Millinery Highlights Couture Week 2022

Stefan Rolland Couture SS22

Day two was again light on millinery but a few gems stood ahead.  First Stefan Rolland Couture continued down the trend of hoods.

I'm not a hoodie person but the hoods showing up in Couture are not hoodie hoods.  These are extensions of the outfit that either glide or puff up over the head think of Star Wars.  Above is a gold crisp probably organdie lame top jacket which creates a puff of gathered drapery over the head.  Millinery is apart of the outfit.

Julien Fournie Couture SS22

Next is one of my fave Couturiers, Julien Fournie. Instead of the run of the mill too serious fashion show, he presented his Spring Summer Couture Collection on Fashion Film.  The pop futuristic game meets fashion theme works.  The pink pops.  The dresses float and move.  Two millinery styles stood out.  The first is a orbital headpiece on a small base in black which is far out.  The second is a pink beret beaded with veil love. For a better view of these Julien Fournie site.

Chanel Couture SS22

Lastly is Chanel.  Let me first point out that there were no hats or hair accessories!  How is this? Chanel always included millinery.  It's how she began.  Not to mention Chanel owns Maison Michel.  At least for the finale Virginie included a bride with a floral head wreath with streamers.

This is it.  So disappointed in the absolute lack of millinery! Milliners need to take notice and start innovating before we are as obsolete as 6 month old smartphones.
