Magnificent Mod Mode
1960s Ungaro Paris Couture
I am personally craving newness in my looks. Street wear is a legit thing now but designers still see it and make it a thing. However as a designer, we need to stay aware of where people want to go and how they are moving that way to design in mod ern ways which is Mode. Hence, my mood for Mod Fashion.
Mary Quant a young boomer who did just this during a time when only Made to Order and Couture drove the styles. She did it on the low street as they say to denote lower price points and mass manufacturing. She decided to bring style to the young ones because they could not afford Couture. Then she started to drive the styles. I believe she has a lot to do with modern ready to wear.
1960s Mary Quant
1960s Paris Couture from Ungaro like cover pic was another famous designer in Paris Couture. It was argued whether Ungaro or Mary Quant invented the mini skirt. I vote Mary because she made clothes for the young ones where Ungaro created Couture for wealthy women.
Mod was about Mode and like Chanel's era about a new woman and man. Sportswear combined with dressier designs became ready to wear.
YSL early in 60s created a modern youthful look that parted from the frou of Dior but so did Chanel.
1960s Pierre Cardin
Then don't forget about the master of futuristic 1960s design Pierre Cardin above. His take on Mod was bold, a bit extreme but I think it was Marvelous. I love taking mini looks and pairing them with body suits and boots.
I actually have an original Black and White 1960s Mod hat which I will be using to make a new version. Follow my blogging and you will come to see I love hats and Headwear. There is a magical thing that happens when a person puts on a great hat that they get and feel.
That's it for my Mod raveings but follow along for more Magnificent Mod Mode.
