Headwear Becomes The Highlight Paris Couture Week
Schiaparelli Couture SS2022
First post from my new the hat style edit Runway Looks. First up is Haute Couture Spring Summer 2022. You can find all my faves and follow my Pinboard. I am focusing on my fave headwear for first day of Paris Couture Week.
I am disappointed in headwear in general. There was a definite lack of it on the runways. Schiaparelli was the only one I reviewed that had true couture millinery on the looks. Notice the incredible oversized stiff brim skimmer hat with a tulle veil that extended down and became part of the outfit. I love the gold at the top of the hat!

The next stand out is a magnificent headpiece of gold metal which is an extension of the top bodice metal piece. This is groundbreaking because the headwear and outfit become one and hover through time and space around the body. Exciting!!!!!
Georges Hobeika Couture SS2022
Giambattista Valli Couture SS2022
The next two are veil type millinery that extends over the dresses. They again become part of the outfit not just a type of headpiece. Very fairy tale. At Georges Hobeika the whole collection was a look through a magical realm of exquisite clothing but not headwear except for the outstanding beaded veil we see above. Giambattista put beautiful simple satin stiffened bows in threes on the models and the looks above showed a veil as hood. Look for hoods as part of tops and coats in ready to wear but not hoodies. Almost cocoon style hoods which where sort of popular in the 1950s.
All in all quantity was low but highlights were high for Day 1 Headwear at Paris Couture Week SS2022.
